May 11, 2018

The New York State Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Enacted Budget increased formula-based school aid to local school districts by $859 million. Most of the increase was for Foundation Aid, which is intended to support high-needs districts. Foundation Aid increased $618 million, or 3.6 percent, over school year 2017-2018.

All districts received an increase, but the increases varied from the guaranteed minimum increase of 1.9 percent received by 148 districts to 11.1 percent in Uniondale in Nassau County. On a per-pupil basis, the change ranged from a 9.9 percent decrease in Edinburg in Saratoga County to a 23.1 percent increase in Amagansett in Suffolk County.
