Tim Sullivan, a public finance veteran on Long Island and in New York City, will become research director at the Citizens Budget Commission, the nonprofit watchdog organization announced.

Sullivan, will begin his new duties on June 19, CBC president Carol Kellerman said.

Tim Sullivan held various posts in Nassau County, Long Island.

Sullivan is now the vice president for finance at the Nassau Health Care Corp. He spent 10 years in New York City government as senior budget analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, budget director of the Department of Investigation, and chief fiscal officer of the City Council.

After moving to Long Island, he was budget director of the Nassau County Legislature, deputy director of the Nassau County Interim Finance Authority, director of financial planning at the Long Island Power Authority, and deputy Nassau County executive for finance.

Sullivan will succeed Charles Brecher, CBC's longtime research director, who recently retired as a professor at New York University's Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Brecher will remain with CBC part-time, focusing on health-care matters.

"We are delighted that Tim will join CBC and bring his extensive experience in both the executive and legislative branches of government," Kellermann said, "and we are happy that Chuck Brecher will continue to work with us."
