More than 20 leaders from different business, arts, and community groups have written a letter to the mayor and city council urging them to reconsider how they’re using federal stimulus aid in the nearly $100 billion proposed budget, which takes effect in July.

Eight Democrats seeking the nomination for mayor of New York City took to the stage Wednesday night in the final official Democratic primary debate co-hosted by WNBC-TV, Telemundo 47/WNJU-TV, POLITICO, Citizens Budget Commission, and New York Urban League.

The participants are Eric Adams, Kathryn Garcia, Maya Wiley, Andrew Yang, Scott Stringer, Ray McGuire, Shaun Donovan and Dianne Morales.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has many ideas about how to spend an unparalleled influx of $22 billion in federal aid heading to New York City.

At least $234 million would be used to pay crews to clean up parks and scrub off graffiti. Some lower-income homeowners would receive up to $300 in one-time tax credits, a program costing a total of about $90 million. Another $121 million would help temporarily expand the city’s mental health crisis teams.

New York City’s eight leading mayoral candidates will take the stage Wednesday night in the last debate of the primary — and with less than a week until election day, none can claim to be the undisputed front-runner.

But a few hope to be, by the end of the night.

The in-person debate, sponsored by POLITICO, WNBC and Telemundo 47, will feature eight Democrats facing off for the fourth and final time ahead of the June 22 primary. Kathryn Garcia and Maya Wiley have surged in recent polls. Andrew Yang lost his front-runner status weeks ago, though the enthusiasm around his candidacy remains strong.

The third and final official debate begins Wednesday at 7 p.m. inside Rockefeller Center's Studio 8H.
